MONSTER BABY

I had the opportunity to take full control of this antagonist character, from the very initial steps to the final look.
We went through only about 2-3 design avenues for her, but fairly quickly landed on this baby-doll rendition.

Super happy that my overall design for her made it to the final production.

ALONE

For Alone I was given a written brief about her personality and with my art directors we explored many different avenues and possible looks for her.

I did many more sketches and variations than pictured here.

We explored different outfits and hair looks and I was really pleased to have suggested her iconic explosive bunches.

I also researched into many variations of her wrench to see which shape fitted her character most.

I was also given a handful of creatures to explore, including a good few creatures that weren't used in the final production.

Researching and studying insects that related to these creatures were really fun. I love the research aspect of the conceptual phase.
There were far more exploration sketches and variations of these Beetles and Candy weevils but these are the ones that were approved to share.

We had the fun idea of the possiblity that Alone or Low could be snatched and carried away by the Beetle.

THE HERD

Another character I explored were the Herd members. These guys also went through extensive varying as initally we thought to take them into a completely different direction than the already recognisable style of previous background characters.

This was really fun, but eventually we pushed their visual design closer to the classic LN style to fit into the IP and world a lot more seamlessly.

I wanted the final Herd characters to lightly resemble overflowing cupcakes or muffins in their hoists and pants, suggesting they were engorging on the candy they were making and slowly becoming what they ate!

Very early on in my career when I had just graduated my Game Design BA, I was discovered by Simon Harris who gave me the amazing opportunity to join Supermassive Games on a freelance basis to work on the preproduction of Little Nightmares 3.

In 2020 for about a year and a bit, I was given many characters, creatures and props to initiate the start of their development, such as one of the main playable characters, Alone, the Monster Baby, The Herd and others.

The concept art stage was a collobrative and team effort, being able to share feeback to elavate our designs and to continuously push them towards the very specific style of Little Nightmares!

This project was filled with challenges that really improved and strengthened both my hard and soft skills, and really flourished my love for creepy things!
I am truly honoured to have been part of such a wonderful concept team, under the guidance and direction of our fantastic art director Tim Hollyman.
It was an unbelievably invaluable opportunity, and I cannot thank Simon Harris enough!

The concept team consisted of Fet-Nat Bailly, Isobel Stenhouse, Max Maury-Martineau, Paco Rocha, Paul Rousset, Michael Sewnarain and Rachel Clark.

A huge thank you again to all involved and to Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco!
