SEA SERPENT

3D SEA SERPENT RESIN PRINT

FO_FINAL-5.jpg

Sea Serpent 3D print piece created for a workshop in 3D World magazine.
I have been playing around with resin 3D printing this year, and decided to really push the boat out with my skills and knowledge of 3D printing. I loved my sea serpent creature design illustration, and thought it would be really cool to see it in tangible 3D!
I love working with clear resin and loved how it looked, and thought this would be the perfect project to utilise this resin due to the creatures translucent fins and then in addition, a translucent wave!
It was certainly an extremely challenging project, and I had to rush it slightly due to moving house, but I am super happy with its outcome and i learned so much along the way! My confidence with sculpting and 3D printing has really took a huge jump. I am super excited to make more of these pieces in the future with other designs of my own!
I will soon polypaint and render the digital 3D sculpt.

Z BRUSH SCULPT

Digital sculpt of the creature.
Adding a supporting structure of a wave for the base, and sectioning up in pieces in prep for printing.

3D PRINT PROCESS

Insight to the process of making this sculpture.
From 3D printing in different resins, to painting with alcohol inks for the clear resin pieces to keep its translucency, and then painting with acrylics on the opaque pieces and areas of the creature.
